This was written for a dear friend of mine.

To Meet The child I Gave Away

To meet the child I gave away
My daughter I have never seen
To hold you once I daily pray
No answers to what could have been

My daughter I have never seen
Was your life filled with love thus far?
No answers to what could have been
To let you go has left a scar

Was your life filled with love thus far?
I'd die to hear your lovely voice
To let you go has left a scar
To give you up was not my choice

I'd die to hear your lovely voice
Embrace you with this mother's heart
To give you up was not my choice
There is no cure for utter smart

Embrace you with this mother's heart
You're in my heart, my soul, each day
Is there a cure for utter smart?
Live long enough to see that day

You're in my heart, my soul, each day
To hold you once I daily pray
Live long enough to see the day
To meet the child I gave away

I have never been in this situation, but your poem brought tears to my eyes, imagining it.  It is a lovely form, too, btw, one I'm not familiar with.

I agree with Jamie--this is very Touchiing, and very Good.  I tried a Pantoum once when I was at my brother's house- they are not easy.  I therefore, admire you in this lovely output.  David

To put together words & rhyme--and touch a life--is so sublime! Thank God for such precious contact! (D.L.White)

I can only imagine the agony. Great expression, Munda.

Munda,
What a beautiful work you have framed here. Pulling the heart strings, this one is!

Munda; this is beautifully written and so sad too. I can't imagine the pain and feelings of loss... Ellie

Munda, I don't know what to say.. it's a beautifully written poem, and it still bemuses me, as to how such a terrible thing can be portrayed so perfectly that I can say I 'enjoyed' reading about it.. but I did, and I think I'm going to cry now, hehe..
All my love Munda..

Lynne

Munda, your poem is so heart wrenching. The pain of a child gone and not knowing its fate. I pray the mother gets to see her child some day soon.  Love and hugs,  ME

The enduring pain so finely written...as it circles around and around, never ending.  The form is wonderfully suited for the subject.  Well done!

A very touching poem and I hope that child and mother will be reunited.

I guess you've given me a little bit of understanding to what it would be like in this situation, sad but beauiful tho

Life has got to chnage,
Nothing stays the same,
Soon it will be time,
For me to move on.
