Could Be Anywhere...

Now, we lay us down

She smiles
while she is crying.
A misunderstanding?
I don't know.
She says it's just because
she loves me,
and I am more confused than before.

Like an unborn child
the mystery is growing...
perhaps as a bride
awaiting the day of destiny.
Or the flowers as they reach to the sky
maybe, perhaps.
I am confused by the possibilities.

The dog barks for no known reason.
Like the cat when it tears about the room.
Some things
are never meant to be understood,
just accepted?
It's so confusing to me.

She touches my arm
softly with love,
even after...
have I treated her badly?
I don't know which.
Perhaps she's angry
but she still loves me?
Confusing isn't it?

She smiles...
while she is crying.
Isn't that an oxymoron?
Is it because...
she knows she has me?
Or am I confused
because she can smile,
and cry at the same time?

She liked this apology
and now;
we are laying down.

from his arm,

I really liked this one..so true to life, showing us as the confused, vulnerable creatures we really are..very nicely done.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

thank you each for your wonderfull
comments!  This piece came out of a bewildering time of much personal growth.
Seems surrender and compromise are better
than pridefull conflict, eh?  I have found that to apologize, especially when i am
totally in the right...lol, makes me a far
stronger person...even if it is so darned
difficult to do!

Gracious is a good word for this...you've captured the confusion well. I enjoyed this one greatly. Very touching.
