Once there were... No limits to my dreaming No boundaries to my ambitions No love I could not possess Some fire raged within... Volcanic and seething Nourished by success That only at intervals could rest Each day another test Each idea challenged beyond compromise Critics only shadows, empty voices that came and went. Then I lost a love I thought I had owned And tried to conquer life - myself alone Age came crashing into youth Leaving me lost in fears I'd never known So here I stand repentent in my demise Consumed by shadows where my ego and heart hides I can find no cure for the sins against what once was me Just fresh wounds healing - not so naturally Now I find... What once was, is just an illusion What could have been, never was What happened to me, was not having you So now I'd like... To inhale your fragrance Maybe laugh with a smile Give a flower life Love like a child Then again there would be no limits to my dreaming |

Age crashes into youth...tell me about it. Why does complication destroy the simplicities of the world seen with younger eyes? Embrace that fire, fuel that ambition, though everything piles on we can still love like children, and laugh just as easily. You write wonderfully, and I don't think I need to say that found a connection to this piece. Thanks! |
