Todays seem hollow to the troubled heart,
laughter but a stranger to the light,

lifes' simple joys denied until,
tomorrow, when the soul is right.

Tomorrows lie quietly in blissful sleep,
amid dreams of pleasant colored hues,

no fear of shadows from the past,
no dark memories the mind abuse.

sweet flowers bloom softly on the hill,
green clover sways idly in the breeze,

clear streams murmur gentle songs,
tomorrow when the hurt has eased.

Other arms reach out willingly to touch,
to sooth this scarred and troubled heart,

perhaps when these sad eyes are dry again,
And all my sorrows finally do depart.

Tomorrow when rain soaked clouds drift past,
and memories are much too dim to see,

I'll remember you not with longing, but,
Tomorrow, when the mind is free.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Pegasus - This is heart-wrenching, and if it is something that has happened to you, I am truly sorry.  Tomorrows are funny things.  They always look great from today, but you never quite get to them.  Beautiful and thought-provoking work.

this has a smooth dreamy flow to it...and i rather like the way you expressed the last two lines:

I'll remember you not with longing, but
Tomorrow, when the mind is free...

when the mind is free...five simple words but to this reader, it implies so much....

thanx for the read

so much is said in just these last lines.

Wonderful
enjoyed!

Pegasus; Sad and hauntingly beautiful, but that happiness has to come from within. I hope that you find a way to "Carp Diem", learning to seize the day and fully live in the moment, pain and all, is the only way to be fully alive!  Ellie

Pegasus~
You sure got the message across in this piece.
In times of sorrow - the heart darkens
with the clouds that cover the mind.

Pegasus,
I think of tomrrow always having to be so much better than today.  I was taken in by the images in this piece.

"sweet flowers bloom softly on the hill,
green clover sways idly in the breeze,"

Ahh. Take it all in. It makes me think of spring.

I especially love the first two lines

Todays seem hollow to the troubled heart,
laughter but a stranger to the light,

and then you end it with thoughts about tomorrow.  Tomorrow does have a way of taking care of itself, it is just getting through today we really need to concern ourself with.  Enjoyed this very much. Songbird, aka Septsong

Very thought provoking.  And well written.  Tomorrows are hard to come by, though.
