Flora now retires
Snuggles in for winters rest
Dreaming of Spring blooms
Dormant, yet Germ of Life
Assures its' resurrection

Flora now retreats
From winters brutal forces
Safe in earth bunkers
Camouflaged by fresh white snow
Green army vows Spring return

Both tankas are about a common topic but with very different approaches. I thought I would put them together to show this contrast. (D.L.W.)

One cannot but think of small elfin creatures curling up in the leaves to sleep the winter away...

a most charming picture...

Beautiful hope of blooming promise. It cheers my heart to read these with all the mush outside in the cold that once was my garden. Wonderful contrasts too! Your talents are never ending, Bro! Love, Sis

i cant help thinking of the flora looking condescendingly at the white snow, petals pointed up in the air, uttering the infamous line "I'll be back"

lovely...

I like the contrasting ways of saying the same thing.  It's a nice idea to present them this way.

Dennis~
These are both so enjoyable.
You did a simply wonderful job with them.

Nothing stays the same,

How old is Flora now???
I thought she retired years ago--
It's about time she makes a retreat.  (Hee  hee)
Kidding aside, You did good bro!  Keep up the good work!   David
