Unknown Foe

The cold of steel,
The sharp of blade.
All the hate
Yet betrayed.

The shadow chill
Behind our back.
Cause some to smile
While others laugh.

A small treachery
My mind appalls.
My footsteps light
Down every hall.

Averted gaze,
Blinded by light
Who's shadow cast
Out my sight.

A shallow twist
From one to me.
Was it just?
I think petty.

Standards set
I don't belong.
What right have they
To sing that song?

Never knowing
Heart nor mind
Only seeing
With eyes blind.

Appalled and angered
As you see
Caused by ones
Shameful deceit.

Kevin,
You've penned a poem of betrayal here, I felt the sharp jabbing pains with each verse with your staccato beat. Peace!

Great work. This should be in Dark passions.

Well this was great. Betrayal is awful and you expressed that perfectly.

Kevin, This poem is excellent and reflects very well the way you were feeling I'm glad you were able to release the tension some through this poem. To bad this person who judged you is so blind to the wonderful person you are.
