Silent Applause

I see her in the Corner Pub,
and I see him here as well,
as this is
no longer a place
just for libation
but for the seekers
and searchers and
those who have this
passion for words

they, the poets
who are not really trying to
prove a point other than their
existence, not looking
for fame or fortune
but just sharing
the thoughts
of
treasured terminology

a lost science

brought back to life with
her breath and his
breath and the
feelings that
wing on in
that little
café’s
light

can you hear it?

She speaks, he speaks
and the feelings emanate out
and on, and touch you right…here…
and you know, you know
you don’t want to try to
outdo them, you just
want to do it as well
as they did, and
have your words
touch someone,
right…
here…

can you feel it?

low light, candleflame shadows
waxy scents of innocence
belied by the way the
words progress
through the
stillness
and it’s
not
1963
anymore

they don’t look like hippies or
yippies or strange but more like
you, accomplished
faces starring at the pages
of yellow sheets and
white pages, reading
from them the made-up
and/or innermost
feelings
to see
if they
have
the
sleight of hand
to impose and pass it on
to you.

So the new breed is here
the poets of today
and we won’t click
our fingers or clap
when the best of
words reach our
ears, but instead
we will look warmly
at the poet and
smile and our
eyes will tear up
once the phrases
have reached our
souls, and we will then
smile again, and glow upon the
author of the words

the poets here
in the Corner Pub.

Sunshine,
This is a awesome poem. Beautifully written..but, the heart it has (and gives) to be received. They know who they are here & I agree with your thoughts. I can see the ladies of The Pub dusting off a frame for this one.  Excellent.  Marcy

My feelings exactly,
all wrapped up in your poem
to keep beside my computer,
to give me strength
when I can't find the right words,
but just want to say it anyway.

Thank-you for sharing you beautiful poem!

Thanks, Chris.  You're right...it was the flow of the words and in editing, wasn't caught.  I'll ask denise to change it for me...I doubt it will mess up the context THAT much!

Deb, I don't know how I missed answering your response, it is delightful, and I thank you for it...

Dennis, now, if we could only figure out what to do with my "real" name...

we are SO fortunate to have many, many talented people in all of the Forums, it is always a pleasure to come and read and sometimes, the most we can do is smile at them for the joy and experiences they lend us through their eyes, lives and words...

thank you for reading...

Karilea is so lovely a name, i personally like it even better than your pen name and most lovely is this exquisite poem and tribute to all the poets here in the pub, so true that we all touch each other in profound ways, with our words and our hearts of love.   Love, Ellie

Well, I followed the link from the shameless plug in Digital Passion. And you know what? Have ye no shame, dearie, for this one should nae be silenced by societal Reapers, filleting each syllabance with a twist of their scythes. Nae! Let forth thy mighty voice, amplified from atop steel building brushing skyclouds! Let the faceless masses meandering like ants turn their palled faces heavenward, as the mana of your words slip gracefully into ear inquiring ear. *snap snap*

Love it!!!!
