At the Laundromat

Weekend regulars
Sacrificing their quarters
To the laundry gods.

Tan migrant workers
Speaking in an unknown tongue
Lost in Anglo town.

Intricate puzzle -
That guy will never solve it -
Folding fitted sheet.

Harried young mothers
Fitting family washing
Into busy day.

Strutting back and forth,
Full of his own importance,
Entrancing toddler.

Hot tumbling dryers
Smell of fabric freshener
Almost time to fold.

To love another person is to see the face of God.

KCS~
What a delightful grouping of Senryu.
My favorite *giggling* is

'Intricate puzzle -
That guy will never solve it -
Folding fitted sheet.'

Oh, what a smile you've given me !
I just love them !

Marilyn; I can just see you sitting there with pen and paper, writing these little gems! Great job, my favorie is the self important toddler!  Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

Thanks for the nice responses, everyone.

Marge - Thanks for putting a label on these. I'm never sure.  I rather liked that one, too.   Thanks for the smile.

Ellie - I actually forgot the pen and paper and had to write them down quickly before I went to bed.   That toddler was cute!!!

Vicky - Thanks.     Kinda feel sorry for them, don't you?  hugs back!

Melton - Yes, I do like watching people. Doesn't everyone who writes?

KcsGrandma,
You have filled a senryu picture album in verse, individual moments, snapshots captured for us to see! How delightful and insightful of the people and events of a laundramat visit.

Oh what a grin you've given me.   Loved this and got the picture, (I'm a people watcher to& have served my time at the laundry-mat).  Humm..may be a song here, maybe you can work on that for next week, with a beat like 9 to 5; (dolly)
Enjoyed, Marcy

People really KNOW how to fold fitted sheets? LOL!

I never have figured it out!

Fun poem to read, reminds me of my own moments in the laundromat when I first got married!

Ah..been here many times. Thankfully, I have my own washer and dryer now. And I know how to fold fitted sheets, but it takes TWO people to do it.

Kaile - Thank you for your kind comments!  It so happens that I wrote some more this weekend that I hope to be posting later tonight.  I enjoy playing with forms.  Sometimes things seem to work for me better in one form than another.  Thanks for your interest in my poetry.

Maria - Thanks for the laugh. It makes people watching more fun, doesn't it?

Debbie -   That was actually inspired by someone on ICQ who used a complaint about being embarrassed at the laundromat because he didn't know how to fold them as an opening line.   Don't know what ever happened to him - probably had to leave town because of the shame.

Poet DeVine - I do envy you the washer and dryer, but have learned to fold those sheets by myself, at least to my satisfaction.   Martha Stewart I am not, however.

Boy and to think that I used to hate going to the laundermat!  Maybe I should have been looking for poems while waiting for my laundry to get done, but of course I was one of those harried mothers!

That's one of the advantages of being a grandma and going alone, you have time to observe.  Thanks for reading.

GREAT!
I loved all of them. None in particular caught my eye because they all caught my eye!
