lost/found
in an old book store
behind a bottom self
hidden out of sight
rare first edition . . .
discarded treasure
broken spine, tattered/torn
ivory pages dog-eared worn

a connoisseur . . .
cross-legged on dusty floor
stares in amazement
smiles in delight
hands over silver dime
“mine all mine”

I have always loved this piece....

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

This is very well written.  I can see the shop, and feel the triumph in finding the treasure.   Kinda makes me want to visit the local used book store.

Yes, used book stores are a world in themselves...all kinds of tresures waiting to be found.

Although, I going to admit that this was a personal allegory written for a very dear person.  The silver dime reference links it back to my first silver dime poem, which gives it one of it layers of meaning.

I can see myself doing this! Now I feel like browsing through anywhere with books. Perhaps a library? lol!

joy, yes libraries are good too, methinks the library was my second home while I was growing up.

marge, now that does sound like a wonderful fine...don't you just love it when that happens!
