A pale shade of light I saw
and unstained lucent hue
and she that spoke, not old nor young
beguiling took her cue

a simple question had I made
as to her seeking quest
and clasping her small looking glasce
to her beating breast

a mysetery she gave to me
as she passed into late night
and puzzled did I follow
into dawns early light

quiet was the courtyard
save for the fountains call
and prisms danced where goldfish swam
as the water rose to fall

so I sat beside the fountain
as the sunlight rose that morn
not much longer would I tarry
for a soldier's oath I 'd sworn

all at once I spied her
there, against my knee
neither old nor young
yet smiling up at me

" tell me now, my little one
my questions answer please "
she simply smiled into my soul
and took a bit of me

" your color, blue, is what I seek "
" to dye my hearth and home"
and as I saw my color leave
I knew she'd changed my soul...
