Wired Birds

A gathering I see of several birds on a wire
closely they sit, appearing to conspire
secrets told with such glee
they press in to be near
desperatly they try to hear

They appear to chat, sometimes spat
offer each other news
wonder if it's of me?
a curiosity I must be

As raindrops spatter
I hear less chatter
they console one another
and soon they take cover
on a tree limb they hover
as they shake and shudder

Must be a north wind beginning to blow
think I'll take the hint and go inside

I love this poem. I sit inside (not outside  ) and watch the birds on the feeders. They're such beautiful tiny creatures and I too often wonder what they are chirping to eachother. Thanks for writing.

BloomingRose~
Ohhhhhh ... you're talking my language here !
I'm a bird lover of the grand scale kind.
I plant the hummingbird attractors, scatter the lawn
with sunflower seeds ...
hang feeders all over the yard and also own
twelve birds who reside in a condo aviary !

I have an African Gray, a Parolet, a Quaker, a African Red Lored, a Cockatiel, a Half-Moon Conure
and various Love Birds and Parakeets.
Yep .... I've gone to the birds.
Loved this write.
