Euphoria

Traffic sounds perch
on damp window sills,
suspending her subconscious.

Trolley exhaust clings
to diaphanous shadows,
its presence intangible.

They transform to
purrs of contentment
from well-bred calico cats
curled atop iron heating grates.

Aromas, steeping
from morning cups of tea,
streaming from bowls
of warmed wheat
tempt her while she awaits
an alert moment.

It looks to me as if the alert moment arrived.  Nicely observed.  Good job, oh singer of songs.

Chanson~
Well, make mine coffee and you're on !
This had a wistful aroma about it ...
Contemplative moments are so preparatory, are they not ?

I liked the idea of the dozing Calico cats, oblivious of the need to pounce upon
the alertness of the moment.

Great write, gal.

I agree... quiet, contemplative moments don't come around very often (not in my house anyway) and when they do, I have to be in the right frame of mind to fully appreciate them.
I've never owned a cat but knowing they can be finicky/nervous/excitable creatures, having them dozing near the heat seemed fitting for the poem

Marge, you enjoyed the poem and that makes me smile!

This is wonderful, Chanson! And yes, cats just love the heat! Mine would even go upstairs in the summertime to get away from the air conditioner downstairs...go figure! You'd think with all that fur they would welcome a bit of a chill!

You captured a moment in time, I could see the steam frozen in time above the warm coffee cups. The smells and stenches frozen in time. its as if you took a freeze frame photo of a euphoric moment in time, but only you did not use a camera, you used words.

I'd love to have a cat but a certain someone around here is allergic to them (or so he says). I may just go out and get one anyway!   (Do you think Otis would eat it? Yikes!)

Thanks always for peeking in, M

Mmmm...Good morning.. *lol*  Very nice.  I really like this.  And I think I'm gonna go off and make some hot coffee now to find an alert moment..

With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.
