The River

As calming river runs its course
by placid oak-lined, grassy peace;
fettered not by trivialities,
Never will its flowing cease.

It drinks in dewy tears on leaves
and gathers strength unto itself
to stream around frivolities,
Never will its flowing ease.

Dusk shades its path, clouds open up,
cool droplets unto river fall.
Partakes fine drink from tributaries,
Never will its flowing stall.

As sated river journeys forth,
its banks absorb in silent tranquil
the beauteous possibilities,
Never will its flowing still.

...chanson~

Music, tonal clear & pure,
Caresses the harshest of curves.

This would make a nice song, I think.  It puts things in perspective quite nicely, peace in looking at the big picture.  Very nice.

You've given me an idea. I just might tickle these words into a little tune on the piano.

Take care, Marilyn and have a great day

Chanson~

Oh how this river sings to me.
Calling me away ...
Floating by in sweet, sweet promise
of flowing still another day.

I could just soak up this serenity forever.
LOVED IT !

I like this I can just picture it

There are enough colours in the world,
To paint your own dreams,
You won't get them,
Till you try.

What a lovely poem...Makes me think of how life and rivers are so similar..

With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.

I'm a very small-town dweller myself (around 2,000 people reside here) with lots of wooded walking trails and small streams and suchon the outskirts of town. It was on a walk when inspired to write this. I'm glad you found the peacefulness in it, Sol

Hi Vicky, it's my pleasure that this is a calming read. Our lives can be so turbulent that it's nice to be able to kick our feet up and enjoy nature's pleasantries

Thank you!
