She stands perched precariously on the desk
Hands poised on the celing
Reminiscent of Michaelangelo and the
Sistine Chapel.  The thin, glowing
Stars flutter to the floor - dying
Butterflies of her childhood.
Images flash on the picture screen
In her eyes of the day they were put up:
Her father holding her on his strong shoulders
Dancing around the room, she
Throwing stars on her ceiling-heavens,
Creating glowing constellations to chase away
The monsters of the dark night.
She was a tiny goddess that day,
Her father an Atlas in truth, holding her
In her fragile world on his mighty optimism.
Ten years later, she is much older,
Her father dead and buried.
She remembers him often now -
When the stars of her universe crumble
And fall with her tears.

You took me back to the days when I was a young astronomer and I too had put the precise glow in the dark constellations on the ceiling of my bedroom, but allas these stars fell from heaven one by one over time. Fallen stars from the heaven. That you for bringing back in time for one brief moment. I hope to someday be a mighty Atlas with a young princess purched upon my shoulders swirling and dancing among the green glow of the stary night. thank you for that little piece of paradise.
