(This is more like a love letter than a poem - hope you don't mind me posting it)

NATURE’S SONG

I saw so many things in the passing years of time
like lampshades tilted right and brass turned copper lights,
tiny, harmless spiders in corners by the door
and stains upon the carpet I spied while bending low.

Your love turned me away from dirt upon the floor
as my eyes lifted up above to welcome in the stars
and the sun shining bright while thinking cleanliness
raced into my heart with warmth of kindliness.

The passion in your soul holding hands inside my own
sparkled bright as diamonds held on a band of gold
and as your need and want turned into my desire
the moon smiled with pleasure even on the darkest night.

The trees and bushes evergreen, the birds were never still,
flowers bloomed constantly throughout the winter chill,
the rain as tears of happiness, the snow my comforter,
and in all the summer flies I saw your smiling eyes.

My heart now sings the tune of nature’s glory song
strumming out the beat of pure eternal love
and as the doves of peace build nests ever strong,
so my love protected in clouds of cotton down.

In God’s eternal home the wind of absence rests,
a garland of roses I’ll place around your neck.
I’ll lay a path of petals leading to my heart
as in death we surrender and vow to never part.

Helen

ahhh..true love..is there anything else that even comes close? this poem swept me up into it's bosom and hugged me

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Thank you, Pegasus, for responding.  True love must be the ultimate experience of living.  Hope it wasn't a bear hug!

Helen; Exquisitely romantic poem. I feel all warm and fuzzy. Lucky guy to have you for his love. Sigh!  ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.
