The crickets played softly
a symphonic melody,
Their music brought us together;
for a dance so soft and lovely.
We swayed in sync with the wind
savoring the magic in the air,
We moved together so perfectly;
on top of the world without a care.
We took small steps on fate's dancefloor
for we knew it was where we belong,
Our rhythm like a river;
flowing to the crickets endless song.
The music is quiet now
the crickets preparing for a winters rest,
our song has finally ended;
And now we must do what's best.
If the future was foretold
and we knew how our dance would end,
Would we have still danced the dance?
Would we do it all again?
I would never want the knowledge
of how it all would go,
Our dance to me was special;
I'm glad I didn't know.
I often sit and wonder
if our lives are better left to chance,
Knowing would have prevented the pain;
but then we wouldn't have had our dance.

Beth; Dearest daughter mine, this so exquisite and lovely. You are so gifted.
Love, Mom

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

This poem was inspired by many things...one was the end of a summer romance and the other was a song called "the Dance" by Garth Brooks.  Thank you for your responses.

Beth,
  This is a lovely excursion into the story of love promenade and love's sad exit-  the love & lover may be gone- but the happy memories still linger on--worth the risk of loving.  Enjoyed this one!   David

WOW- another day of life-and here among friends!
