Let us in the gates
Eagerness can't wait
A Field trip today!

Nature in cages
And of wide variety
Gathered to amuse.

There's a cave for bats
And there is a lion's Den
The fish are glassed in!

The giraffes stand tall
The seal does tricks with his ball
A fun time for all.

Circus atmosphere
So appealing to the young
Marvel at the sights.

Picnic or sacked lunch
We must eat it quick, then go
So much more to see!

Pachyderms perform
And monkeys do their swing
Peanuts please them both.

Cotton candy, yum!
And an ice cream by the pond
"Watch the graceful swan."

Creepy crawly things
In a building all their own
With protection shown.

There's a petting zoo
Tamed creatures who like our touch
A brief loving bond!

Now it's time to go
Our minds filled with all the sights
Are THEY glad we came?

Of course they are!! We're probably just as entertaining in their eyes as they are in ours! Delightful poem, David! Thanks for the trip! Been meaning to go there again soon!

Oh, David; I had sooo much fun reading this wonderful anthology! I felt like a kid again, and as you made everyyhing so real and had it all come alive, I felt a child's delight in the journey through the zoo. This is truly a precious masterpiece! Bravo!!! Love and accolades to you, Sis

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

David,
Have you been to the zoo recently, could this poem be titled "What I did on my Summer Vacation"?  Delightful verse!

Oh David what wonderful memories this brought back, when I was a kid....we lived within walking distance of the Buffalo zoo...and we were there all the time, I'd almost forgotten the great times I used to have there.  This is a terrific piece, or is it these are terrific pieces....whichever....they're great!!!  Bonnie
