The world is empty to my view,
landscapes are dull and dirty grey,
sunrise distorted and askew,
the evening hours my heart's dismay.

So quickly do the fortunes turn,
crumbled in a heated rush,
cruel searing pain in waves do burn,
angry intent the soul does crush.

Not distant in my love's sweet past,
a kindred heart embraced in kind,
swore fiercely that her love would last,
abruptly now expunged from mind.

Cold empty arms in lonely stance,
deep ache to bear, no time to mourn,
all hope denied, no second chance,
foul ashes do my lips adorn.

It's hard when those dreams die. Very well written!

Peg,
The pain feels all too real--well conveyed in the mournful dirge of a love that's lost forever.  A well written piece.   David

This is very well done!

Pegasus; You are so very talented at writing these romantic and lovely poems, even tho this one is so sad. Broken hearts do heal and are stronger for it, thus able to love again. Ellie

calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

i found it wonderfully poetic.  it was a great poem and i enjoyed the rhyming.  lotsa people think of silly things so they can rhyme but you didn't have to...good work
