Not thinking of tomorrow
living only for today,
Not thinking of the gamble;
or the price our hearts will pay.
Stopping for nothing
watching the signs as they pass,
living wildly in the moment;
not knowing what will last.
Accelerating at full speed
into the dark endless night,
driving  down our favorite crash course;
without precaution, with no headlights.
The familiar fork in the road
forces our journeys end,
For I desired the unfamiliar route;
you took the one you knew instead.

You can never have too much fiction; reality can be such a bore

Beth,
  You describe well the course of life which is ours to choose, but you indicate there are also consequences for choosing the wrong paths. This is so well written.
Nice Picture!

LL this is a fine poem indeed... I like the allusion and the way you carried the reader along to your last line...great.

Wonderful! "The road less traveled" is always the best one! love, Mom

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

I would say offhand that you are mature and he still needs the security of a well beaten path. Why is it that men don't mature until about 25 or 26, sometimes 30.
Anyway, your poem is very well written and One that most (women) can relate to.
Good work

Well I was going to make a comment about "the road less traveled" but I see your Mom already beat me to it. This read really well, nice flow, keep up the good work!

Who would have thought a good little girl like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness.

i'm having to agree with mom eL on the road less traveled...

it does seem to take a while for the men to grow up doesnt it!    but when the time is right, i suppose we'll find that one in the crowd..  *sigh*  ...

take care and keep choosing the less beaten path
