Not like Yeats or Shelly now
Not even Dylan Thomas
I know that these folk were quite good
But I’m not like them I promise

You see these people were to fine
Their diction …..’to precise’
But to steel a line occasionally
I spose it would be nice

No I want to reach for greater things
My verse should make its mark
No..’ bonfires for my soul’.. I seek
No strolling through the park

No waving hands so foppishly
No rose with…'thoughtless briar’
I’m not for crumpets after tea
Or…….. staring at the fire

You see I’m a poet for today
And convey things as they are
Like..,,’How sour turns the sea’
And …’the polluting motor car’

I know that some pals think me mad
They just don’t understand
Why I sit down almost every night
And …’doom pours from my hand’

But you know something I’m training hard
For the message to be heard
But sometimes when the words don’t flow
It can sound. …’Quite absurd’

So if some people knock me down
I’ll rise ……I’m sought of spunky
You see dear friends I’m not a clown
I’m just………… a poet junkie

JM,
Possible Rule 6?: If you are content writing two poems a week, perhaps you should take up bowling or knitting and forget about attending our meetings. LOL

May I suggest your Majesty(respectfuly of course)that the fewer poems a MEMBER writes the greater the membership fee.

(seems like a money spinner to me)

and all the fees go to the King and assistants

off shore savings account.

We don't seem to have many members yet!!

Jon

My name is Beth.  I am a poet-holic.  I find myself using after breakfast and alone at night.    I am a classic poet-holic and sometimes write until it hurts..my wrist that is.  I am addicted.  My soul would not be content without out it.  Thank you for letting me share.

Hello, my name is ellie and I am also addicted...that poetic high is too much fun to give up! Rule #13-If feeling down, get high again, by rereading all the responses to your latest poem! That should do it! ellie< !signature-->

the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song

Hey guys!  Thanks for the invite.
Sorry I'm late....

         my name is vicky
      i'm not a poet junkie
      i don't have to write
     it doesn't control my life
   ...can quit whenever i want...

OH, WOW!!  Maybe I do need help.  My name is Vicky, and I'm a poet junkie.  I sometimes find myself writing back-to-back poems.  Writing before noon is not uncommon for me, and I often find myself writing alone.  Thank you so much for giving me this safe place to come and share.

THANK YOU JON!  YOU'RE MY HERO!!
