    The meaning of a rose

I eyed a rose embraced its stem
A peerless treasured velvet sheer
To make of it a diadem.
An emblem for a lovely ear.

Cut, dethorned below the bell
I held it with an empathy
Honey sweet with heavens smell
Its beauty held my sympathy.

A petaled gem condemned to die
Majestic beauty held in sway
A bit of hedonistic ply
From ancient past until today.

A give away, cut with a knife
A symbols tell, an offered spell
A sacrifice of life to life
Beauty tossed into a well.

Placed on cupids bow and arrow
Dipped in a loves adagio.

Very beautiful, Sy! (how ironic, too, as I sit here looking at the dead roses my husband gave me almost a week ago....hehehe...well they weren't dead when he gave them to me but they didn't last too long!) Welcome to the Pub! So nice to see you here!

Yes, it's so nice to see Sy in the Pub. Denise, we'll have two hot chocolates please!
And incidentally, I love the roses on the tables.
Lovely poem, Sy, sorry I got distracted

Seymour, an excellently written poem on the many sides of a rose. A rose is a rose is a rose.

A petaled gem condemned to die
Majestic beauty held in sway
A bit of hedonistic ply
From ancient past until today.

A give away, cut with a knife
A symbols tell, an offered spell
A sacrifice of life to life
Beauty tossed into a well.

Hot chocolate coming right up, Elizabeth! Brian, would you care for anything? How about a menu, everyone, we serve food here now too?! I'm glad you like the roses, Elizabeth! We're always trying to come up with new touches around here!
