Never Wish Upon a Star

Never wish upon a star
A million miles away
Your dream will soar to space afar
And never come your way

Don’t toss coins into a fountain
You may soon repent
For money used to make a wish
Is money poorly spent

Don’t rely on good luck charms
To master deeds you do
Amulets just hang there
All the effort comes from you

Never knock on wood for hope
That’s not where fate abides
For that which happens in the morrow
Only God decides

Keep your dreams within your heart
And to yourself be true
And now and then a lovely dream
Will somehow come to you

Liz; How utterly delighful! "And now and then a lovely dream will somehow come to you"
I love the wonder and promise you have written of, in this magical poem! love, ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

Lovely Liz! Yes, there really IS little sense in wishing upon a star.. it's not the stars that hear it, and why would anyone open mail, not addressed to them?! *_^ You have such a sweet way to say things Liz.. loved this..

Loved it, Liz! Wishing upon a star can never bring our fate. Our fate is in our own hands, very nicely illustrated idea..

wow...this is wonderful! the title attracted me and i gotta tell ya, the words astounded me. never thought of it like that before, but you are right they're just silly beliefs we've sought after through time, but the only luck we get will be the luck as we say written or inscribed for us well in my religion. so thanks for sharing this.
