for my special friend
  _________________

you say
she's an open book
perhaps
but have you read
  the entire story
have you looked beyond
  the written word
and touched
  the tear-stained pages
did you feel the flame
  searing your fingers
as you caressed
  the edges
where the pages have been
  burned and torn
did you take the time
  to read each passage
crying with the tears
  laughing with the joy
    and tenderly
      embracing the pain
did you learn the soul
  that dwells
beneath the cover
an open book
perhaps
but read
  not only with your eyes
but open your heart as well
once you've read the story
don't toss it on the shelf
keep it
hold it close to your heart
for never was
  a more beautiful work

Elegence in motion.  How we need to peek inside and take a look as you say inside the book.  Great Job.  I love this piece.   Look forward to more.

vlraynes, Wow, there is no better way to view a person then by reading the complete book from cover to cover. I love this poem, I think you did a fabulous job, you are very talented.

an excellent reminder to us all not to "judge a book by its cover"...like the way you incorporate this saying into your poem here

Life is a book filled with pages no one can write.....perhaps people are too.

Good poem

....this is where they read the book tricks

..of course you know, this is one of my favorites...!  and well written i might add

This is a very touching poem...So profound and true.

VLRaynes~
Oh, YES !
The library of the books of my friends have many dog-eared pages of favorite recalls.

This is a splendid piece of your talent.

I wish more people would take the time to read the inside of our books. Great piece.

Hi, everybody.
Thank you so much for all your kind words.
I've been very fortunate to have 'read' some
truely special 'books' over the years.  Thank you for letting me share this one with you.
