Sire, lettest me tell thee
more about mineself,
for trust is borne of knowledge--
In knowledge, 'tis said, "there's wealth!"

Thou takest me in not knowing
if I truly am friend or foe,
and so to thee, I owe it--
that thou mightest more fully know.

As I told thee before, I'm the cobblers son
my Mother died giving me birth,
thus into sadness and misery
mine infancy thus was hurt.

And I thinkest my father blamed me
for his wife's untimely demise,
he never did come out and say it--
But so often, it's in his eyes.

And thus to help make up his loss
I try more than most to succeed,
and honor my da', by my life
to help fill his void and need.

But what's a young lad to do?
Fer nothing can bring the mum back
And for him-I was a poor trade--
how else canst I make up his lack?

As a widowed father, he's meant well
and instilled in me a decency,
respect for all folk and all things--
no stranger to work, drudgery!

I've madest it a point to look
for the good, yet of evil I'm warned,
for not all are so noble as thou
but evil-turned, even as Knight Blackthorne.

I trust a beginning I hath made
to help thee knowest where I came from
and I will in time, share the more--
thou shalt know me,better than a son.

If at times I should be eager overmuch
I hopest this explaineth my so,
direct me in more fuitful ways
I canst learn--Icanst be--and follow!

I seek to be me-
and all I can be!

Euclid, thou cut'st me to the quick,
Thinkest that I inquired not of thee,
When thou mightst have to guard,
One day, the hinder side of me?

I know of thy poor mother,
And of thy widowed dad,
Details of thy upbringing,
Both noble and sad.

Thy reputation speakest well,
Though poor and oppressed,
Thine integrity is witnessed,
By all, it doth impress.

Thy attention to hard work,
By thy daily burden toil,
Attest to thy stability,
To be faithfull and loyal.

Thou comest with good report,
My decision keenly weighed,
We'll learn more of each other,
In the coming of days.

Young Euclid Responds to His Master's Words:

O Noble Master,
thy reply touches heart,
for now i perceivest
my lessons doth start
and e'en by these words,
already I am learning,
as gently thou shewest
for what I am yearning.

And right from the start,
thou detectest mine delusion,
in misperceiving thyself,
thus my confusion
for in mine ign'rance-
I bethought that thine kindness,
more vulnerable made thee,
thus to dangers, blindness.

Little did I know,
thine decision no whim,
and I'm amazed
that thou knowest my kin
and knew of mine mother-
who so young met her end
more things about thee
are now setting in!

Meekness is not weakness,
and kindness is not blind
'cept to the caste system
which needeth be refined
nobility sheweth honor
not based on one's own birth,
but acknowledges all
and in all seeketh worth.

So often have I felt
such unworthiness,
because of humble circumstance
I was caused to see
I felt no one noticed
and why should any care?
but thou shewest more than pity
thine good willing to share.

My Lord, I have so much to learn
as thou canst surely see,
I thank the Gods thou doth condescend
to lowly folk like me!

I seek to be me-
and all I can be!
