Along the coast
the clouds are restless grey
the wind is pure whisky here
up by highland way
we stroll through the heather
stumbling along on brown paths
bare

surrounding us, the hills
like old friends
rounded by time

we drink in the cottages
stoney-grey fathers
crouching by the sea
talking of legends
in their sleep

far out on the tide
the seawrack waves back and forth
keeping time to the slow waves
from Caithness point and north

late, we stumble to the pub
for a hot toddy or two

before a candle lit bed beckons to dreams
of heather bells,
distant fires
and hearts of oak

Could it be that you are homesick?
You've managed to make me wish I was in Wales (as I've never been in Scotland I can't want to be there).
Awfully good as usual!
Is coccle really spelt like that

Wow you have an eagle eye Uta! (Cockle) Homesick - maybe while I was writing this - but this was a quickie, 5 mins or so! (I'd got over it by the end!)

Denise & MB - thank you, thank you!
