One soul lost
amist the lies;
falling from grace,
out of the blue skies.
Her eyes telling stories of pain
that even the strong cannot bear;
Not letting anyone close to her,
even the most loving learn not to care.

Her body worn and tired
bearing scars that never fade;
her soul whispering secrets,
lost in her masquerade.
This lonely soul
struggling in a world of hate;
dancing with her demons,
playing games with her fate.
Connecting with no other
her survival is faced alone;
deeper into the darkness,
wandering far from home.

It is in the distant darkness
that she hears a familiar sound;
chills surround her body,
laughter echoing all around.
She is pierced by blue eyes
and seduced by a smile;
a girl reaches for her hand,
and asks to stay for awhile.
The girl tells tales of pain
similiar to her own;
a strange bond starts to form,
suddenly they are not alone.

Hand in hand they walk together
passing any sign of light;
deeper into the darkness,
deeper into the night.
Feeding each other fruit
that bear from evil source;
drinking from dirty waters,
fit not even for a horse.
Together their bodies are beaten
their souls fade as one;
Their skeletons dance together.
underneath a scorching sun.
One stumbles on a rock
slowing their consistant pace;
The other never bothered
too concerned with winning the race.

They come upon a bridge
tattered and worn;
not strong enough to carry them,
across the bed of thorns.
The sit together and ponder
a tactful strategy;
they sit for endless hours,
until they finally see.
They realize that betrayel
will not help them to survive;
and realized that greed and jealousy,
will not keep them alive.
They begin to build the bridge stronger
taking each step in stride;
working as a team,
working with great pride.

The feat has been accomplished
they walk across hand in hand;
not knowing where it will lead them,
their journey into distant land.
They see a bright lightness
and close their eyes in fear;
but they know now they need not be afraid
for they have eachother near.

Thanks for the encouragement, midnight.  I am so surprised about how many great poets there are in here!  I am delighted to have found a place to express myself.

thats some deep stuff lady...

sometimes the darkness seems the safest place to be--even if it beats you, laughs at you, screams at you.....but once we wake up in reality, we realize we need the light..

well written..i really got into this story..

Lady Lost; Wow! This is a fantastic first post. Welcome to passions! I, for one, am looking forward to more of your poetry.
This is a wonderful poem of a frienship that endured the worst to get to the best. Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

Lady Lost,
You present with your touching, heart-felt words an interesting irony. How that friends can hurt each other by at times remaining true or constant to each other. This is somewhat of a devatating look at what can & does sometimes happen--and you express it so well in this poem.  Welcome to the forum-
we hope to see more of your talented & thought provoking writtings.   David

Lady Lost,
  WOW! Powerful and moving poetry! The helplessness and surrender to the status quo,
the loneliness, then a bond forged in desperation, You paint a picture that one would only want to experience throught the telling of someone elses experience, yet this scenario happens every day in every major city in our country. This is SO well written.
Welcome to the Corner Pub, Do sit down and tell us more! Great first post!

Lost Lady - Awesome poem.  I know what it's like to be hurt so deeply that you attempt to stand alone, not trusting or relying on anyone else.  And, how hard it is to learn to trust enough to "work" together and believe in someone besides yourself.  This really gets one thinking.  Look forward to more of your work.

A lovely poem, but I was hoping they would jump off the bridge together at the end and find liberation in a cold white water stream to be carried on to their dreams. I feel the pain and exhaustian you are feeling. I too feel so jaded from this all. I wish I could just lift myself from the darkness and cross that bridge too.

Your poem is very touching indeed!   < !signature-->

Your poems are long but such as magical. You are truly one of a kind.

I've read this before, but didn't reply... It hits to close to my heart, I think.. Anyhow, I really enjoyed reading it again.. And for a first post let me say.. WOW!

With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.

Glad I found this, what a read!

What is that you express in your eyes? It seems to me more than all the words I have read in my life.
