The Fishing Hole

There is a very special place, on the Manatawny creek
Where the Ironstone comes washing down, the two discretely meet
One meandering creek, one smaller stream, swirl in a kind of bowl
And many years ago that was my father’s fishing hole

It was a secret he kept well, for no one figured out
Where he would fish when he was young to catch those rainbow trout
But now the secret has been found, I passed there yesterday
And noticed someone fishing as I glanced down yonder way

It’s as though they were intruding on my father's special place
Though he’s been gone for years, I felt the pain upon his face
For he told be of his fishing hole before he passed away
I never saw a fisherman there until this very day

And so I dared to wander near, intruding on their fun
But as I near approached, it was my grandson and my son

Liz: This is so wonderful! I enjoyed reading
this poem very much. I can just guess who whispered in their ear where to catch the best fish, granddad from heaven. Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

This is truly heart-warming...a touch of nostalgy...a hint of familiarity...I like this *S*
