Time slips so effortless
away……trailing to
unconscienceness I have to
struggle to stay in light.
The steady beat of music
notes becomes tangled sound bites
mimicking the low hum of silence
then there it is nothing there…
detachment, hunched in my chair
flickering dazed eyes burn upon screen
radiation soaking in the stew
of fuzzed images. This is a strange collage.

I am just nestling I will
live
tomorrow
not a defeatist mantra
just the spiritual flow
drifting aimlessly biding my seconds
and murdering minutes in redundancy.
The waters temperament is humid,
It drains me I am deflating upon
rivers of suggestion. I have to escape
seize the day…seize the life each day as if
it were the last, if it were would it change a thing?

Nothing,

I am scrambling in my final efforts
a ball of fury, struck ineffective on its last spin
It is a quarter past…some hour …time for action
progression decision motion
OR
regression
ease my tendons from the damages of fight
constrain energy to a clinical death…
scrapping the walls, pounding the doors
burning golden carbohydrates…perspiring
in vain  resistance. Prising feebly upon the latch
the key is gone the door remains locked.

"Life is wearing me thin
I feel so drained, my legacy
A sea of faces just like me and
Life is wearing me thin
I feel so drained, my legacy
A sea of faces just like me

I've been drained, emotion is a bitter fate
Won't be here so I don't care
I concede relationships have left me weak
Won't be here so I don't care
Look for something worthy to replace my guilt
Won't be here so I don't care
Prove my worth to people who I called my friends
Won't be here so I don't care" Paul Draper- Mansun

Brian, Brian, Brian, how do you always do this, I just don't know how to respond to your poems. They send me into another sphere, like drifting in amazement, away in words colored and flying on there own catching other words along the way and inflating them with wisdom. All I can say is I wonder what happens when you find the keys, I wonder where you will take me then?

dang Bri...when you said you are bored..
you weren't kidding
you take mundane and melancholy to new depths here...
a portrait in complacentcy..
as for those keys...
me thinks they are already in your hand...
your poets pen my friend...
it will take you anywhere you want to go
the poem is awesome by the way...

LD, when i find the keys I am heading On the Road. Thank you for beautiful words they are sunshine in this grey sky.

Jan, looking in my hand, oh silly me you are right I was holding them all along. What would i do without you?  About turning the music up loud, it was radiohead so I would sad no matter what, maybe i should put on some Spice girls (now that is music to slit your wrists to) LOL. anyway thank you for your sweet response, my sadness is gone see...

midnightblues, twice the praise? or is it an echo. Thank you for your wonderful comments.

  Brian-
I have to say, 'ditto', to what dgvarner
said.  You are truely amazing!  Your
poetry touches me in such a way, that
I'm not quite sure what to say; yet I
feel the need to respond.  I too am
    in awe.

i think we all see a bit of ourselves in the poem (which is fantastic as per usual)...and after reading Janet Marie's reply, i decided to take a look and open my own hand..to see if my keys have been there all along too!
and when i find my way out of my own door, i'll give you a friendly *wave*! this piece of yours is just plain brilliant!

Brian,
Yet again another extraordinary poem.
Well constructed, and put together.  My favourite part is when you say "Emotion is a bitter fate", it's very true.
You really are a tremendous poet Brian, plus you are Irish - another advantage in my opinion!
Keep writing! -Michelle.

Kevin, wow thanks for your generous words. thank you.

pout, thanks for your wonderful reply and for the wave. If i had known you were in the next room waiting to wave to me I would not have been so down. Thanks.

Michelle, I had to laugh when you chose your favourite part because from "Life is wearing me thin...." on are not my words. THey are actually song lyrics from a brilliant band called Mansun (english. It is not Marilyn Manson). I included the lyrics because they perfectly refelcted the mood of the poem. THanks for your very generous and extremely kind words.

Brian, Aaah I get it now, you include certain song lyrics at the end of your poems!
I'm sorry, I feel rather stupid now.  I'm new to this poetry board thing, please forgive me...at least I made you laugh!!!
From a foolish Michelle.
