I held you close,
in my arm.
Thinking why you
shielded me from harm.

The blood of two,
me and you.
The parameds swarming,
around this sidewalk world.

I could feel you,
where my heart was.
I felt torn
like my heart was.

The hospital light,
seemed so bright.
As I laid beside you,
I've stuck with you through.

The pain, the rain,
teardrops from my eyes.
As I raise my soul to
those ever welcoming skies.

You wake up,
to find me dead.
Even though our passion
is still red.

I watch you from celestial skies
as you asked God all of the whys.
"Where did she go?" you ask
I look down and smile.
--for I had made the ultimate sacrifice.

This exellent piece.  Touches the very heart in me.  It's sad yet comforting for me to see.

Lovely "Romeo and Juliet" style poem. It shows what lovers are willing to do for each other, especially if the other gets hurt...*sniffles*.

The true grief of the heart can be never known even to the closest of friends. The real feelings cannot be known to anyone but ourselves...

That really is the true meaning of what it is to love someone, isn't it.. when you can confidently offer that "ultimate sacrifice" in your own mind.. very nice, I liked the feeling in this.

"what greater love hath man than to give his life for another....."  lovely read.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Sometimes for love you have to be able to sacrifice everything, including your life to love and to save the one that you love. When the vow is taken, it lasts beyond the grave sometimes, but not often enough. You have to love someone enough to sacrifice your life for him/her, to donate his/her life to insure the other lives. Sometimes it takes more than one...*sniffle*
