The craziest slide
that ever was slid
into home plate right
on her hide,
was done by Laura,
number 11,
and oh what a softball
kid!
The bat hit the ball,
Laura took off,
she took her great fall,
as she started her slide.
She threw out her feet,
slid on her hip.
A more perfect slide
couldn't be beat.
Except for a hand
that had it's own brain.
It twisted it turned,
and then came the pain.
One broken hand,
but a run she had scored.
Six weeks in a cast,
and oh, Laura is bored!!!!

Ellie, I loved this poem, it's always great to get that run in for the team, but ouch, what a reward.

Poor Laura-
a hero-but feeling like zero!
Stuck in the summer what wuzn't-due to her predicament. Right now she will be pained, wishing herself a better script for life--But later, she will be able to look back on it all and laugh about it.  So, all I can say- it Hang in there Mom--she'll come around-and the summer won't last forever!!

Ellie,
Another fantastic narrative! You tell a story with such feeling it's hard to walk away untouched! I hope Laura gets to read this GEM! Keep up the Great work SIS!

Humor and what an ironic twist of fate.  I enjoyed every last bit.   Great writing.

ellie, loved the poem. Now that is why I never play sports, I once got knocked unconscience when a football hit my head. seriously. so i can relate to Laura's plight.
