Feast of Summer Solstice (Sequel) Co-written by Esmeralda Ponsonby and White Knight

Into the Grand Ballroom the guests have wandered,
The evening's still young, the band in unison plays,
White Knight with a new lady at his side
On the dance floor, while Esmeralda's mind disobeys.

     (Esmeralda)

Oh, thy Knight, so fair and brilliant,
I'd so desire to be thy one by side,
To watch and see thy two of thee,
So closely makes me want to off and ride.

So handsome he looks in thy suit,
Yet thine eyes have a glow supernal.
I wonder who she is, and why
     I'm sitting alone, daydreaming internal.

     (White Knight)

      My heart doth dance alone,
In the company of this maiden,
My heart is still sorely vex'd
     Lady E's presence cravin'.

     Surrounded yet so insular,
My heart has much to say,
     Truly this Summer Solstice,
     Hast become my longest day!

The Dance floor empties as the song ends,
Band honors requested tune from audience,
Many get up to take part as music begins,
As hopefuls request new partners to dance.

     (Esmeralda)

Oh my lord, a Knight of darkness approaches,
Can'st I turn away fast enough?
T'would be rude of I to do like that,
So I shall take his hand only in bluff.

T'will be interesting to show my capabilities,
Whilst with a knight of obnoxious demeanor,
Perhaps, 'tis more than meets thine eyes,
Could'st this classify as committing a misdemeanor?

     (White Knight)

      Knight Blackthorne, most vile,
     No integrity doth he hold,
     Dare dance with Esmeralda,
     I can'st yet behold.

     Sweet Lady Esmeralda,
     What danger I fear,
     Thy beauty still chasten,
     With corruption so near.

The band signals a brief intermission,
So the guests wander 'round mingling,
White Knight's eyes catch her glance again,
Esmeralda is engulfed with such a tingling.

     (Esmeralda)

I can'st handle his magnetic visual charm,
     Mine fragile heart shall collapse,
Whilst so much I desire to be enraptured,
I deeply fear falling into a relapse.

     (White Knight)

Be still my heart, be at ease,
    Her beauty again doth entrance,
    Miss not this second opportunity,
Lest thy heart burst, last chance.

Everyone returns to their seats as the band speaks,
They issue a challenge to the men, all that dare,
As they pull out their violins to play a favorite,
"Upon the dance floor invite an unknown Lady fair."

     (Esmeralda)

What if He comes to ask me to dance,
How will I react, can I handle thee?
    He's mesmerizing, and captivating,
With Him I could ne'er simply be just me.

     (White Knight)

Dear Lady, think me not forward,
Your hand I must now request,
For your beauty hath captured my spirit,
Dancing with Thee, t'would make me so blest.

     (Esmeralda)

Sir White Knight, thy blessing would be mine,
For to accompany thee, a delight in itself,
So I grant thee mine hand, to escort to thy floor,
Otherwise, I'd find it hard to forgive myself.

The violins with a harmony all their own set the mood,
A slow close dance with just enough room to breath,
Those watching from their seats, had the grand illusion,
Of what could be when elements of desire, slowly seethe.

This is a delightful sequel to that previously unfulfilled & acknowledged emotions of love suggested in the first.
Romance isn't dead--nor does it die so easily!  Well good, you two--May we look forward to more amorous adventures of the Regal Romantics?    David

My thanks I give to all of you for reading, enjoying, and replying. It was a delight working with White Knight to bring the two parts of this together. As to the question of will there be more, I guess time will only tell if or when we might co-write together again.

wonderfully romantic, an excellent sequel.
