Best of Both Worlds

The rolling hills
of Northern Virginia
surround my being
rich with horse,
and dairy farms.

Nature wraps me
in it's essence
with birds singing,
and woodpeckers
drilling fancy holes.

The heart of beauty
on the outskirts
of bustling reality,
within forty miles
Washington, DC lives.

Best of both worlds
depends on mood
I can hustle bustle
or just lay back
let nature serenade me.

Lost Dreamer - Sure sounds like it truly is the best of both worlds.  I've been down there, and it is beautiful country.  Terrific poem bringing back great memories for me.  Bonnie

Lost Dreamer--
I have not had the privilege yet of enjoying your fair state--but you describe it so wonderful---warm & inviting--& versitale--I may have to come see it some time!    David

I thank you all for your kind replies, mine is not as strongly stated and dedicated to pride so much as I have only lived here for a year, but it is much more beautiful than the State I lived and grew up in before now.

Great poem.  I've never gotten to go to Washington, but maybe one day.  And I'll be looking for all the beauty you described "within forty miles" of it.  Take care.
