Peninsulas have a definite charm,
Land with water on three sides,
Michigan, the Two Peninsula state,
Is the place where I reside.

Surrounded by the Great Lakes,
Michigan, Huron and Superior,
Lake Erie also plays a part,
With thousands of lakes in the interior.

Michigan, with its distinctive seasons,
With activities for One and All,
Something for Everyone to do,
Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall!

Michigans bountiful scenic attractions,
Draws tourist from Far and Wide,
My favorite, the specatular "Fall Color Tour",
It's no wonder I'm filled with Pride!

State Moto, "Si Quaeris Peninsulam
Amoenam Circumspice" is so true,
Means, "If you seek a pleasant
Peninsula, look about you"!

..........................................

My challenge to you is to write about your Hometown, State, Province, Country, or whatever, and share your Local Pride. I'm looking forward to your responses.
Please mark your poems (D.W.'s Local Pride Challenge) Thanks

Terrific poem Dennis, I've been to Michigan several times and it is a beautiful state, your pride sure shows through in this one.

Dennis, an excellent challenge with an excellent poem.  Your pride really shines through in this piece!  Perhaps you should write to a local newspaper and ask them to print your poem , I am sure that your fellow neighbours in Michigan would love to read it, and would be filled with pride! I'll try my best to post a poem of mine within the next few days, I'm sooooo busy, but I love this challenge so much, that I just have to write a poem for this

Take care,

Dear Dennis,
This is a wonderful poem about our Birth state--and it does have many wonderful features-as you have so well brought out-somethings I didn't even know. But now since I live elsewhere, my my state pride I'll also show--Count me in on your challenge-

Thanks for your interest in this challenge and your kind comments on my work. I hope to see many more respond to the challenge so we all can visit far away places we could not normally visit!
Munda, I'd love to find out more about your Amsterdam!
  Thanks too ALL! Dennis :^)
