I remember it being sometime in the night
(Or was it the middle of day?)
Someone brand-new came into my sight
Before a "hello" I could say
He looked so pale and weak at the knees
I just couldn't help but smile.
Another new poet blew in like the breeze,
Whom I hope can stay awhile!

I tried to give an encouraging word
But words are what I had lacked,
I wonder if anyone there had heard
my gum as it popped and smacked (but it tasted good!)

He posted a poem that wasn't too long
But written so well and could not be wrong.
I couldn't say anything, this time because
I couldn't reply to what it was--
More like a song.
