Tyrants reign across this world
Nations with their flags unfurled
By politicians insults are hurled
Can’t they hear the waiting silence?

Children starving wracked and thin
Their flesh is creeping hanging skin
Their woeful cries a screeching din
Don’t you hear the waiting silence?

Asylums stretched the prisons’ full
The sullen atmosphere is dull
Will nature next the sapiens cull
Can’t you hear the waiting silence

Annihilation of yourself
You don’t need books upon your shelf
The end is moving slow with stealth
Don’t you hear the waiting silence?

The statues shout of victories pride
Appeasement with excuses hide
Justification is just a ride
Don’t they hear the waiting silence?

Realisation in chaotic fear
The truth as always been so near
In watercolour painted clear
We’re from the waiting silence

How I wish this could hit every newspaper from east to west, from now until election day.  Well done!

You did a great job of slapping the pain and silence onto the screen. It's very......poignant....and so sad....but you did a great job of expressing the condition!!

Wow.  I love how you grab everyone with the dire pronouncements about maniac world leaders, starving children, genocide, and the death of education for all.  Just like the real world.  Your pronouncement of the techniques that policticians, and world leaders, use to placate us, the public, are so astutely described...patriotic references to past moments of honor, excuses and justifications, all for a public that NEEDS to be appeased.  And the Waiting Silence, that's the ones that we've turned our backs on, but it's also us (I think) because in turning our backs on them, we are defeating  HUMANITY.  Wow!!  I loved the message in this poem and the way you put it all together.  It has punch...makes an impact.

It's a sought of sullen mood I'm in at the moment, sometimes consternation rules and frustration is king.

So a kinda rant I guess.

JON wow, I agree with every one, a powerful poem. If only the people in power could hear this, though they would probably need the people to explain it to them. I can just imagine it. One politician turns to another, "what? some people don't have as much money as we do. There are people starving..." really enjoyed this poem.

Jon - this doesn't sound like ranting to me.  More like reality stated in a powerful, passionate way.  Bravo!!  Excellent, excellent job.
