i built these walls
to keep you out--
not to keep you in...

i took my falls
i learned to shout
i did my time, and then

i walked the halls
of pain and doubt
and learned to cry again...

i built these walls--
i mill about,
trapped
within my pin...

The walls that we build to protect us also keep us from enjoying all that there is.  This is very good.

I have to agree that I have done the exact thing, And now I am trying to undo it, and believe me, it is hard. Thank you for sharing this, very beautiful...

i built these walls
to keep you out--
i did my time, and then
i walked the halls
of pain and doubt
and learned to cry again...
i built these walls--

Have to agree with all the posts before.  But remember to truly grow we must see the storms.

"to truly grow we must see the storms."

This is sad, dgvarner..

"i built these walls
to keep you out--
not to keep you in..." I love this piece.. and yes, I agree with the above..
Often the little words mean so much more..
And you surely captured that! ^_^
