Daydreamer Empty voices, Echo around the room; I hear the words, But their meaning eludes me, For my mind is not here... I’m sitting in a field, Back against a maple tree, Threading daisy chains, In warm, summer sun. Sky above me, full of birds, Chattering amongst themselves. Pixie in a toadstool house, Hanging out her pixie clothes Waves a cheery greeting, As I tie daisies in my hair. A far off voice, calling my name. Glance up, sun shining, leaves twinkle, Disappear and teacher’s face, Impatient for an answer To an unheard question. "Umm, yes?" I guessed. "Good save" she said, And I knew she knew; For a minute, I was not here. Lynne |
