Hmm.. Yawn.. going to bed now, so I posted this g'night poem I wrote a wee while ago.. it is not perfect at all, 'coz I haven't re-checked it yet.. I usually read my poems over for at least about 4 months before I let ppl see them.. so i know it is nearly how I want it.. so if anyone has any suggestions.. as to any things that may not sound quite right, I wont mind at all if u mention them.. (please? ^_^)

Dream Of Nothing.

When you go to bed at night,
I will not wish your dreams, sweet.
But instead I’ll bid you ‘dream of nothing’
’Tis a good nights wish.
For if you dream of nothing,
You’ll never have a nightmare,
And you dreams can never be shattered.
You’ll never wake to think,
"Oh, what a pity,
It was just a dream."
So when I bid you goodnight,
Do not be offended,
If instead of sweet, your dreams I wish,
I send you ‘nothing dream’ wishes.

Lynne,

This is really nice! I have to say though, I do love dreaming....even the bad ones, I love waking up and thinking: "phew" it was just a dream!", or "That was wonderful!". But, I love the thought behind this. Thanks for sharing!

Love and hugs,
Lizzie

Wonderful poem, but I love to dream, so wish my dreams sweet just this once.

Nothing can deter a poet, for he is actuated by pure love. Who can predict his comings and goings? "Thoreau"

Yeah, i actually love to dream too, my best friend and I are always exchanging dreams.. hehe.. but I was in an unusual mood.. I don't know how to describe it, but I'd just recently had a few repetitive nightmares.. and some really confusing dreams.. and I was beginning to forget whether I had done something, or if I had just dreamt it.. hehe.. so I wrote this.. just for fun. ^_^ don't worry, I still wish ppl sweet dreams..

thanx ppl, for you comments.

nah, Jon.. I wrote it a while ago.. wasn't sitting at my computer, but I never thought of it that way! ^_^

Always dream of sweetness,
Of happiness and bliss.
Always dream of good things,
Of the things that you might miss.

For when we dream we manage,
To handle things we must.
Even in a nightmare,
There are things we know we trust.

Our minds are always working,
On the things within our lives.
So dream of only sweet things,
And create them with open eyes.

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shodows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face...

Thanx Marilyn! What a lovely poem! ^_^

And thank you Bleeding! I wasn't sure if I like this piece, myself, but that's what i was tying to say, so maybe it isn't quite so awful after all. *_^

I can understand your thinking behind this poem...there were times I wished I would not dream.  However, most of those days are past, and I do enjoy my dreams.  Sometimes I can't wait to fall asleep!  Scary huh?  Great poem!  Good Work!  ~~Jamie

"I keep breaking all the promises
That I keep making to myself
You'd think by now that I'd be over this
Instead I'm feeling sorry for myself
So why does everything seem desperate now?
I should be feeling so alive
But it feels like something's missing
Something's wrong somehow
It feels like something deep inside has died..."

My sentiments exactly.  But then I've lived a nightmare and watched my dreams become shattered before my eyes.   Anyhow, it's a very nice poem.  Good job!

I awake to a world I don't want. There is no transition for me. I am in heaven. I am in hell.

Hmmm...I really think that dreaming is a rather powerful thing, Yu. It's full of subtle messages. But, this is some good stuff.
