Shimmering bronze August
weeps a grey November twilight.
Consider the naked blue evening,
grieves the yellow May morning.
Hush billowing sails soar through the gale of
scientists turning up as many as
Ten thousand new species of insects every year.
Surely we have enough?

Well John  it took a few reads, but I really like this......however if there is room enough for us then there surely is room for them...circle of life you know.

Love the begining.  You capture nature so well.  I like how it just flows right into the scientists from the gale. very much like a cycle of everything on this earth and everyone one.  Does one have more importance?

Hello John:

I really enjoyed your opening pertaining to nature you caught it well.

Well the juxta position of science and nature is a big dilemma for me also Cat.

Do we need more? Good One

Every creature is important....
However, this poem poses a question asked by many I believe.

JTC--With my busy schedule, I let this one slip by at first....   A little more abstract than usual, but I like it (as I do all of your poetry).

I hate bugs, so of course I don't want to be bothered by the thousands scientists discover every day, but I don't think we have much choice, now do we?

Thanks for all your comments everyone. This one was just an experiment. A diversion. I think I'll go back to rhyme now

Isn't it crazy how smart humans try to be?  I too wonder sometimes if we're supposed to know it all--why we keep pushing on to learn everything, to progress, and we seem to be pushing ourselves further into disrepair.  Good Job!  You made me think!  ~~Jamie

"I keep breaking all the promises
That I keep making to myself
You'd think by now that I'd be over this
Instead I'm feeling sorry for myself
So why does everything seem desperate now?
I should be feeling so alive
But it feels like something's missing
Something's wrong somehow
It feels like something deep inside has died..."

Thank you Lynne & Jamie.. This really was just for fun. Nothing nearly so deep. Thanks for the kind words.
