Blank paper stares back
Defiantly mocking me
I grab my scissors
Fold and cut pattern outline
I now laugh, at paper dolls!

Next sheet taunts me too
Laughing at my feeble ploy
To regain control.
It gets folded in defeat
Origami, sweet revenge!

The sheets that remain
Whisper of my sure demise
Fall in the shredder.
Inspiration now arrives
Where'd all my darn paper go?

Thanks, Dennis.  I needed cheering up today, and reading your poem made me smile.  Very nice, and keep writing.

   writer's block tanka
I guess I'll write one also
   now how should it go
maybe, er, umm, gee, naw, well,
this is harder than I thought

Nicely done, Dennis.  Clever idea, wittily carried out.

BTW, I think it's "scissors"

ROFL   Very creative use of the blank paper, Dennis! Perhaps I should try that and then when I am out of paper some inspiration will come!

LOL  Good one, Dennis.

Look on the bright side--you could always become an artist. Paper? What's that? You've got Word '98-2000, don't you?  Get a digital voice recorder. Then you could walk around town reciting poetry into your hand and people will think you're nuts.

Hey, what is the difference between a 'tanka' and a 'senryu'?? I can't tell.. and have never come across either before. ^_^

This is so neat!!

Thanks for the smiles Dennis. This is really a great way to look at writers block.

Oh please don't do what Gene does....walking around in his Birthdaysuit, lost his underwear, and talking into a voice recorder. LOL Pretty soon they lock him up in the 'Stute !

Great tanka's Dennis !
