What If? (Drinking Challenge)

Take me down the highway of memory
buckle up and hold on tight what a ride
I'm listening to Jethro Tull at the moment
so this could prove to be quite interesting.
Should I take us to an outside Tull concert
full of screens that magnify it all so grandly
I could get drunk on his music forget alcohol
sorry forgot the topic at hand here forgive me.
Of course when one goes to a concert you drink
back in the days of my younger years I did all that
today I am more laid back and enjoy life and music
I cannot stand that out of your senses feeling of old.

When I do need a drink or two Kahlua and cream rate
or I will sip a few wine coolers these are summer ades.
Vodka does not touch my lips after I played with a quart
many years my youth and quite stupid yet very depressed,
thanks to friends who took care of me and got me home safe
I was fine after that other than bad hangover for three long days
then finding out I got sick inside friends van on brand new carpet
he was not too happy and thought I knew, scary being blindly led.
With memories of such I'm thankful I was safe and had trust in them
cause there were a few things that had me puzzled days after all of it
never did I ask them but I always wonder in the back of my mind what if?

Once upon a time, when I was still young, LOL, and used to go out every weekend in the big city of Amsterdam, I drank too much one time. Thank goodness for having good friends around !
Liked your poem !

this could easily be some message to those of us in college...why just the other day my roommate was taking care of me, i loved the poem though and i'ld rather get drunk off of music too...especially jethro tull, i love that band, they made the flute a real instrument.

I am sometimes amazed that I am still alive after some of the stupid things that I had done when I was younger. Thank God for friends that were really friends, that's all I can say.....and I can also say that I will never touch rum and coke again!

This is wonderful...   I could say "once upon a time....", but I think those stories for me are better left in the past... Hope to see more of your posts..

MAY THE WIND BE ALWAYS AT YOUR BACK
MAY THE SUN SHINE UPON YOUR FACE
THE RAINS FALL SOFT UPON YOUR FIELDS
AND, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN,
MAY GOD HOLD YOU IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND

Great poem! God, I remember those days.....wouldn't relive them for the world, but as everyone has said, THANK GOD for GOOD friends!

This is a good poem...I can't relate any stories like that cos none have happened yet. Just think, I still have to go through it all.
Anyway, yeah, I like this poem!

Love and hugs,
Lizzie

Gloria,

Great poem. I love Kahlua and Cream too, who dosen't. Loved your story about Vodka--or as my Russian grndfather would say, "Wodka." Remides me of my first experience with Everclear--180 proof!
