SWEET DREAMS

Oh, my daily Missed Conception,
Tried and true if in deception.
Leave me ever disenchanted,
By sweet guilt never recanted.

Don that creampuff serenade,
Your sugarcoated accolade.
Marshmellow kisses, pop ‘n' fresh
What bitter sweetness you enmesh.

My daily diabetic pie,
Just one taste of you, I'd die
Or find a delicious coma,
Just taking in the aroma.

If by a shot of Cappuccino,
Topped off with a maraschino.
Drenched in oodles of whipped cream,
Alas, ‘tis but the stuff of dream.

Michael Anderson

Sorry Guys, just venting a little.
It's sucks having a sweet tooth when you're diabetic!

great poetry, Michael.  I am not diabetic
and don't have a sweet tooth at all.
My brother is diabetic and so is my aunt,
they both crave sugar that they don't dare
have.

HINT: when dying for sugar - eat a dill
pickle, it is said to nip the craving in
the bud.

Love and hugs,

If you were any more sweet, you'd be a sugar cube.

*diggin around*  I swear I had that recipe somewhere...it's the best way low carb cheesecake I've ever had...

This breaks my heart, Michael...I cannot relate, for I myself am not diabetic, but I can understand the frustration for sure.

May I never be too busy to help another's load,
Then I'll be drinking from the saucer 'cause my cup has overflowed.

'Sweet' poem, Michael! I didn't know you were a diabetic. That's rough even when you aren't craving sweets, more so if you are, I'm sure. As a sweet craver myself you have my sympathies. I heard that a high protein diet cuts the cravings. Have you tried that? Also, when I was at the shore last month I happened to notice sugar free candy in a store that sells fudge and salt water taffy among other delicacies. Have you ever tried them? That might be the next best thing. Oh, and I know you can make homemade whipped cream using a sugar substitute (one cup of heavy whipping cream and 1 packet of sugar substitute)and just whip it 'till you have whipped cream, takes about a minute with a mixer. I enjoy that sometimes with sugar-free jello. Not too bad at all.

Denise ... Those sugar free goodies are a misconseption, mostly ... They do have sugar in them ... just not more added ( go figure ) , but that whipped cream sounds good ... 'S' ...

I didn't know that Pepper, that stinks, huh? What is their point in even making it then, I wonder, since the only people who would buy it are the people who can't have sugar. Geesh, I sure hope they have it printed on the ingredient label, someone could really get sick if they ate it. Yes, that whipped cream is wonderful!! You can add more or less of the sweetener according to taste, but not too much because then it will have a bitter taste. I love it with rasberry sugar free jello. Sooooooo delicious!

Sounds like torture to a sweets lover. Written very well Michael.  I can't imagine having to stay away from such delightful indulgences.

My dad is diabetic, so I totally know how you feel.  When I was growing up, there was never any sweet stuff around the house!  But, if it saves your life not to, you've gotta be better off without it!

 Hope,

netswan,  Dill pickle, huh, I will definately have to try that.  Thanks.

Pepper, I will surely let you know how it works

ESP, It's not nearly as bad as I make it out to be...  Just felt like pouting this morning...  Someone had a frozen Cappuccino and I've never even tasted one    Dang they smell so good.

Satiate, you start that cheescake, I'm on my way.

Denise,  actually, the more protein I have the worse the cravings are.  The best thing I've found so far for the cravings is like pastas and salads and such.  But I never claimed to be normal, mind you...LOL  And that whipped cream sounds like a great idea...

Pepper, you're absolutely right.  Just because there's no sugar added doesn't mean there's not "natural" sugars in the product.  Some of those products are very misleading - and can be downright expensive too.

childomine, indulge a little for me, will ya?

Alicia, Amen to that.

Thank you all for the kind replies.

I was suppose to marry a diabetic, so I understand.. I gave up all sweets and switched to his diet for a while.. Needless to say, maybe a little sugar would have improved him a bit..    Oh well, though, life goes on.. I really like your poem.. and hope to see more..

MAY THE ROAD RISE TO MEET YOU,
MAY THE WIND BE ALWAYS AT YOUR BACK
MAY THE SUN SHINE UPON YOUR FACE
THE RAINS FALL SOFT UPON YOUR FIELDS
AND, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN,
MAY GOD HOLD YOU IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND

Micheal, great and sweet poem. I know how hard this is. My Mom wasn't as strong as you and I've seen what this illness can do to the body. Please stay strong, no matter what.
