Floating gently on a cloud....

Writers Block

This monster attacks most of us
At some stage in time,
He destroys poetic urges
And wipes out all rhyme.

He is the heavy weight on your mind,
Squashing any poetry that trys to emerge.
He is the death of any creativity,
He spoils every Dirge.

I try to evict him from my mind,
He wants to destroy my only art.
He wants to get rid of poetry,
And so sadden the human heart.

I fight him day in and day out,
Then after a while I start to wonder....
Whether perhaps my poetry
Has gone forever asunder.

Happily after he has stayed a while
He packs his bags and goes.
It is like a cloud being lifted,
The end of many woes.

My pen dances with joy as
Many a verse spills out of my soul.
I am able to write my poems again,
And so I feel whole.

Nice to know I'm not the only one!  I have just about the worst case of writer's block right now.  Thanks for the inspiration.

I love your poem as usual and think my time has come again. I haven't written anything for 36 hours, though the last time was over 20 years

Very nice poem. I can tell that writer's block was certainly gone when you wrote this piece!

I wish he'd pack his bags and leave me...I think he plans on sticking around for awhile longer..... Great poem, Lizzie!

Writer's Block...what an ugly little beast! It's horrible when I have the urge to write and nothing flows from the pen.

Glad your muse has returned, I know the feeling, but lately I have too much to handle, I'd almost enjoy a break...LOL

this is a great poem and I know how ya feel... I hate writers block. So many feelings to express and no way to put it into words.  I guess we all have to deal with that little monster some time    < !signature-->

This is fabulous!! I love it!!

MAY THE ROAD RISE TO MEET YOU,
MAY THE WIND BE ALWAYS AT YOUR BACK
MAY THE SUN SHINE UPON YOUR FACE
THE RAINS FALL SOFT UPON YOUR FIELDS
AND, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN,
MAY GOD HOLD YOU IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND

Irish Blessing
