Awakening The first rays of sunlight begin to shine through half open blinds Landing softly upon our bed and erasing the chill of night I feel you stir beside me as you drift upwards through the fog of sleep Smiling My hand glides quietly across warm sheets Searching for you Seeking your warmth and comfort of your being As the dark of night fades my fingers touch warm skin Caressing graceful curves and gently coming to rest upon your hip Without really knowing you slide backwards pressing against me My arms encircle you holding you tight as the last shadows of night dissolve in morning's glow © 4/8/00 "A poet is someone who is astonished by everything." - anonymous |
