He lumbers through the door tiredly
and oh how his body aches.
He works long and hard to provide
on the little that he makes.

He works all day and many nights
to feed his family of four.
He knows he gives them what they need
but wants badly to give them more.

His hands are large and strong from use,
his heart is gentle and giving.
He struggles to get through each day
as he trys to eke out a living.

He asks for help from no one,
he's a good man and has his pride.
What he has is what he's earned,
doesn't expect or want a "free ride".

"Oh please dad can I have that?"
"Dad I really want this."
"Honey, the roof is leaking again",
she sighs as she gives him a kiss.

Strong hands, worn and calloused
gently lay upon her face.
She makes it all worthwhile;
her, the children and this place.

He'll never be a millionaire
with lots of money to throw
but he has the love of his family,
that's enough for this working class joe.

Thank you Denise, Jon, Cat and Gene, for taking the time to read this and post a comment.  I'm not sure what kind of a bug I have Jon!!  When something comes into my head it will drive me crazy if I don't put it on paper.       Again, thanks.

i often wonder in this world, what purpose riches serve??¿ What advantage do they really give us??¿ if any??¿ Hard work is so satisfying....and it's my beleif that being poor is a blessing,it opens your mind up for new ideas, because you have to improvise with everything you have.

childomine--This is beautiful!!  It reminds me a lot of two men I know (my dad and a good friend of mine).  Money definitely can't buy the love that your "working class joe" has found.  In case you can't tell, I really enjoyed this.

Sorry about that. I call that "the Parkinsons quiver" hehe. My finger does that sometimes. I spend half my day "unclicking" things that I didn't mean to open! That's OK, childomine got 4 responses out of this!
Way to go!
