Regardless of what you think
I do not want to argue with you anymore
The very thought of it tires me
Can't we just close that door?

I promise to do my best
To tell you how I really feel
If you promise to listen to me
Do we have a deal?

All the screaming and shouting
Does no one any good
It is like you versus me
Who is understood?

There are no winners in this race
Just an endless uphill battle
A struggle for you and for me
Will we fall from the saddle?

I will give you my opinion
If you tell me how you feel
This is about you and me
What will the truth reveal?

That at times we disagree
Do not see eye to eye
One view for you another for me
Can compromise be where the solution will lie?

We can only try Lone Wolf, be the best you can be, and then you'll know the fault doesn't lie there with you.  If you aren't true though it does...

L.W.,

So very well said.  Communication is usually the primary factor to a successful relationship.

PDV...thanks and we are giving that a try.

Isis...I know and I am trying to do all I can.  Have to....means too much to let it slip away.

wondrous....wow!!!  Thank you and that is the best compliment!!!  Hope it helps!!

Denise....I am learning.  Without communication, we have nothing.

SG...Wow again!!!  Thank you, that is touching for sure!!!

LD....never thought I'd get this response.  Of course they are my feelings so I do not look at it in that way.  Just written for a special someone.

Sheila....thanks and yes it is.

John...hope it helps you.  You are welcome.

Lone Wolf this is very good.  So often we're stuck in what we think and want and then there is no room left to hear (really hear) the other person.  Very good message.

Lone Wolf--This is a wonderful poem!  Oh, the wonderful art of compromise.  Thank you for sharing this.

twinsgd...thank you.  The response to this post has amazed me.  Wrote it for a special someone who also appreciates it.  Perhaps I should have titled it "Compromise"?

childomine...thank you.  I try to live my life this way, but think I failed miserably lately.

freckles...you are welcome and thank you for the wonderful comments.

Compromise is definitely the answer here. Nobody is the same and maybe we are all right. Therefore we must respect each other's opinions, right? I hope you manage to find this compromise with your loved on. Great piece of poetry!!!

Love and hugs,
Lizzie
