I'm walking the bank I'm fishing the lake.
So far not much luck no fish I can take.
When I then spot a pool cut off from the rest
It's teeming with fish so I fill up my chest.

Later I'll fry and have a shore lunch.
I'm here all alone but will cook quite a bunch.
Nothing like fresh fish straight out of the lake
or out of the pool, if that's what it takes.

The loons they are calling their sad lonely call.
Out here in the wild as night starts to fall.
Sunset throws crimson light on the rocks.
The waters bright shimmer red yellow and gold.

The dark settles in, there is hardly a sound.
The whoosh of the bats as they dart all around.
The occasional splash as a fish jumps so high
A foraging bear on the hillside so far.

The Silence is split as a wolf howls out loud.
The call it is answered there must be a crowd
Noise in the undergrowth makes hair stand on end
The day is unfolding as surely it should.

My campfire I douse as there has been a drought.
I crawl in my tent get my sleeping bag out.
I then settle down for a good long nights rest.
As I drift into dreamland I feel quite content.

I awake to a scratching sound outside my tent
It must be a mouse caught up in the vent.
I pull down the zipper, stick my head outside
my campsite is bathed in a strange violet light.

I'm drawn irrevocably out into the night
above in the sky an unusual sight.
A spaceship is hovering over my camp.
"Shove off" I yell," You're disturbing my sleep."

I then get beamed up , I'm  inside their ship.
I have been abducted my wings have been clipped
A tiny green man holds a gun to my chest
As best I recall he had no nose on his face.

In a quavering voice I say "What do you want?"
He replies in midair, but I don't know the font.
I shake my head not understanding,he does a quick switch.
He shouts at me loudly "YOU STOLE MY FISH."

Twnsgd, your just like all fishermen, you expect us to believe your wild stories. I think your stuff is great, also like you punch line. You paint a nice picture, I was raised on a game refuge, I can relate.....bill

i loved the fishing part, being that i am a commercial fisherman and have spent most of my life outdoors but i didn't like the ending, sorry.  the aliens were too much for me, thought it ruined a beuatiful piece "that's my opinion i could be wrong"

Twins - your fishing tales are absolutely delightful.  I must admit you had me hook, line and sinker - until the last 3 verses.  You are too funny!!

Writing for fun is good.
Your enjoyment of fishing and of writing shines through here.

Keep writing and keep the pub smiling sometimes we get a little short of air 'round here.

twinsgd--Well, you've gone and done it again; you've put a smile on our faces with this delightful, well-written piece.  I'm so glad you began writing and sincerely hope that you continue to find it enjoyable.

This was great twinsgd! Sometimes we need a little lightening up. Not only was this funny, but it had some great imagery.

By the way, you definitely write well enough to leave things straight if you want to.

Thanks for an enjoyable read!
