NOT PERFECT I KNOW

I find it disturbing at times, when I try and understand things, or people I don't like,
I've never been one to do things, or hurt peoples feelings for spite.
But then tolerance has never been in control of my life, and that has been a hard fight,
And I have never won that fight, most of the time I thought I was right.

I know that I am predjudiced in many things, mabe even a bigot at times,
That first part doesn't bother me none, the last however, it's one of my crimes.
I have never felt myself better than any man, or entitled to more,
But I know the field is not level, and some of us have more chances to score.

Now what do I have to do with that? Should I accept the blame?
My predjudice has never cost anyone, that's one thing no one can claim.
I believe it is true, I am not my brothers keeper, his helper? yes,
Many others, long before my time, started this whole sorry mess.

So I'm going to keep those little prejudices I have, they offer a defense,
At least in my mind, as I see the world slowly losing it's sense.
I can lose that bigotry I think, work on my tolerance in many ways,
But please, when you look at my white face, know this, I never owned any slaves.

It takes alot to bare our souls, character traits (be it flaws or quirks) etc.

I admire you for openly bearing your inner self. We should all be able to voice our flaws openly and honestly. Bravo, my hat's off to you!!

BRAVO Bill!!! BRAVO!!! This is wonderful! You are open about who you are but also seek understanding about who you are not. This is very good, but, you changed tracks on me.

We all have our flaws, one thing or another. None of us is perfect. Few people are as honest as you about it though!
