The Ocean
By: Amy M. Kennedy

I walk out onto the nice cool sand, as the wind blows all around me
I close my eyes and I just let all my thoughts go
I can hear in the distance the sound of a seagull's cry
The sun kisses my shoulders gently as it begins to set for the day
The smell of salt air stings my nostrils
But I don’t care, for I am at peace

I walk along the sandy shores, just lost in all that’s around me
I can hear the sound of the waves as it crashes along the shore
Laughter of children playing by drowns out
Any worries that may cross my mind

I turn around and head back in the direction I came
My body is more relaxed, my mind is much clearer
The world seems a better place to live in
And I am at peace, with those and myself around me
And I look up to heaven, thanking God for this day
and for the Ocean

The peace of the beach
is yours to take-
try a walk in the sand-
for sanity's sake!

I'm practicing my off-the-cuff stuff.

This was beautiful.  So peaceful.

As a person who's never seen the ocean (except from a plane) this poem gets me one step closer. thanks for the great read!

Amy,

As a person who spent everyday of her life (about 18 years ago) on the beach, if even for only an anour or so, I can certainly well relate to this.  My time was spent at the Gulf of Mexico, but very similiar to the oceans.  There is no other type of peace and tranquility for those who love the water.  I really enjoyed this.

Wonderful poem, Amy.  God and the ocean are a sight to behold.

I have to thank you Amy, for writing this.  It gave me peace of mind to read it.  What I wouldn't give to walk along the shore and let the waves wash over my feet.  Ahhh.  Great work.
