I have quite a lot of poetry that my grandmother (Nana) wrote, that I haven't yet posted on my site.  I know she'd love to share all of it, but I expect she'd like a more personal atmosphere than Open#6 would offer her; so I'll post a few in the Pub before I send them to my site for posterity.

Nana spent quite a lot of her time being nostalgic about her lost loved ones - especially my grandfather.  I can't say I blame her there - He was pretty special...

ALONE

By Poet Laureate
Velma M. Carlson (1903-1996)

I walk the Appalachian Trail,
Two miles every day.

Leaving Camp at seven-thirty;
Time doesn't seem so long that way.

As I walk along, sometimes I cry
And feel so sad, alone.
Nice to be with my children
But, I'm nearer to him at home.
I guess you know just how I feel?
That half of me is gone?
No matter what I try to do
The days are - Oh, so long.

Everyone is very kind.
They do so much for me.
But they can't heal my aching heart.
For that will always be.

Someday, I know I'll be with him.
That he will come for me.
I can't help being sad with grief
Our love will always be.

He said, "someday one of us will go
And the other be alone -
But the love we had
Will linger on."
And now I know it's so.
